15z sudden death
was installing Win 10 in a 15z, went well, when reached the end of install I went away to do something. 30 min later came back laptop was dead. the charger cable loses blue led as soon as it is plugged in. laptop had a new battery installed before. now it seems it would not power on and has a short whenever charger is plugged in.
is it just coincidental bad luck or is there something I could do to investigate further?

Could be anything on a notebook that's more than a decade old, but if there's a short in the system, check the USB ports for bent pins. Any more than that and it's likely a hard short in a component (usually a capacitor or power IC) -- either way, it's going to require either a replacement mainboard or a replacement system. Anything this old isn't worth much -- a board may exceed the value of the system, and anything involving labor will automatically do the same.
