Bios 1.22 Password Change/Sync Not Working via WMS?

I've deployed the latest Bios update last night and now all 500 of our 5070's are Non-Compliant, with the reason being they need a new Bios password setting.

I read in the WMS 4.1 guide to create a job to schedule a Bios password sync, which I have done, and then made a change in the policy config to force the change.

They all said successful, but none of them have changed the password and are all still Non-Compliant.

This is what I followed: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-uk/wyse-wms/wyse_wms_4.1_ag/sync-bios-admin-password-from-jobs-page?guid=guid-92bbb2b9-96c0-4cb4-bca2-37866e2c0cf8&lang=en-us

Has anybody managed to actually get this to work at all? it isn't a major issue, just more annoying than anything!

@zzomp

That explains it, shock... what a ridiculous thing to exclude from the standard license, wow.
Well I ain't going round 500 devices to set a Bios password, that's for sure!

I've noticed in WMS on a device under system info > bios settings, Enable Admin Password is Yes. However, on the Admin Policy Tools on the actual device, it is set to off and greyed out. So i'm guessing that may be the issue. The default bios password is still Fireport.

Hi.

You can simply change the BIOS password via WMS settings no need to create a separate Job. See attached screenshot with our configuration. Important: you need to enter the current BIOS password (default) as well.

@zzomp Is that screenshot from your WMS and not the actual device? because we don't have BIOS as an option in WMS? do you have the Pro license or something maybe?

We have WMS in the Cloud so yes, with a PRO license. Sorry, I was not aware is not available with the standard version.
I will try to change the Bios password of a device with a scheduled job and check how that works and see if I can help you.

I tried to change the BIOS password via scheduled job too but it doesn't work. To be honest I am not sure that this feature can be used to change the BIOS password.
The explanation in the manual is very confusing but if you read it carefully it appears to be used to synchronize the BIOS password for a specific device in WMS to be then used for pushing BIOS settings but not change the BIOS password.

For example if you manually changed the BIOS password to something else than default you need to use this feature to specify the BIOS password for this device in WMS before you can push BIOS settings.

Hello

I am experiencing the same issue here with BIOS 1.22 Dell Wyse 5070s and Dell ThinOS 2306 (9.4.2103). Manage by WMS cloud. I cannot make the devices compliant. "Applying Bios Password Failed for Device" still wondering what could I do to sync the BIOS password. --- I have a case open with Dell!
